My World is Down The Tunnel

taken in the Malinta Tunnel at Corregidor
Carlo and I took a day trip to Corregidor last Saturday for our 3rd anniversary. Corregidor is an island a one-hour ferry ride away from Manila Bay. This island was the center of the war between the Americans and Filipinos against the Japanese back in the 1940s. This tunnel was where President Manuel L. Quezon stayed in during the war. Many soldiers died in this tunnel... it gave me the heebie jeebies!

You have created a very reflective atmosphere in your photograph even though it gave you the heebie jeebies. I like the lighting and the muted colours very much.

Great photo, you captured the lighting perfectly. I love seeing tunnels, but I think this one would make me feel strange given its history.

Oh yes! I can't even imagine taking the tour at night!

Great shot! I know how difficult it is trying to take photos in that very dark tunnel — and with so many people posing and taking photos too. ;)

I too have problems in places where people were killed.

Did you get to witness the light and sound show? Saw it eons ago, like 18 years ago. I wonder if it still impresses. Your capture has an eerie feel to it. Great shot!

Great photography. The creepiness is palpable in the photo. Maybe there are ghosts? :)

Lianne, congratulations to your Anniversary.

What a great trip spending to one of the historical places of the world! That tunnel looks so eerily beautiful!
